Job seeking but still jobless for months now? Do you sometimes wonder why no one hires you? Do you feel rejected because of this? Are you frustrated looking for a job?
The most common reason why people look for a job is to have a source of income. When you are seeking for a potential job, are you evaluating yourself and assessing how you can be more successful? Maybe something is wrong with you that you haven’t realized, yet. Every year, try to assess and examine your strengths and weaknesses, work ethics, values, and several other factors. There can be some changes you need to make so you can get a job.
Reasons for Your Job Seeking Fails
Job hunting is not easy and it will never be. Continuous competition is ongoing. Each year, more new graduates enter the corporate world trying their best to get a job. Included in this tough competition are those who are looking for a new job or a career shift. These are the most common reasons why job seekers fail:
1. Wrong Qualification
Have you ever checked the qualifications stated for the position? Sad, but true, many do not actually read that part. They miss the information telling they are not qualified or they are overqualified. They are sometimes frustrated in hunting jobs that they neglect the most important part of it.
Tip: Read each qualification carefully. Assess yourself if you will qualify or not. Companies hire applicants if they can see the potential and competencies of the person.
2. Sending the Wrong Information
A resume introduces you to a company. It should describe you and summarize your life in a maximum of two pages. The reviewer should be able to capture as quickly as possible who you are.
Tip: Customize your resume. For every position or industry you apply for, send a different resume. If you are applying for a sales position, do not send a resume stating you are good at writing. That company will not need that skill. Instead, convey your sales, marketing, and communication skills and strategies to land the job. Or else the manager will discard your resume.
3. Communicating the Wrong Way
Communication is two way. In interviews, effectively convey your strengths and competencies for the position. Learn to listen. To hear is different from listening. It is a skill only a few people can fully develop. The wrong information that the interviewer receives will automatically fail you.
Tip: Listen with your heart and open your mind. Do not assume anything unless you are sure. If you do not understand the question, ask politely what the interviewer means. Relate to the interviewer, so you are not giving incorrect information about yourself.
Try developing more of your skills. Learn new things that are useful to your industry. Add another skill to your list. Do some steps to improve your weaknesses. It will not only help you overcome your frustrations, but it could also allow you to learn from yourself. This will help boost your application further.
Strive to become as optimistic as you can be because job seeking is really very challenging. Focusing on the negative things will affect you emotionally, socially, and physically. Hopelessness will not bring you toward success or even nearer your goal.
